About CGO's Professional Version

The Professional Version of Visual Guide to Auction Prices provides you an unique and valuable tool where you can view and compare realized auction prices from over 10 different auction venues. Whether you are a collector or a dealer, this powerful investment tool alone can potentially save you hundreds of dollars.

With the Professional Version, you can readily see, for a given grade, which auction venues would fetch you higher prices for your lots and which venues would net you lower prices for your purchases.

Professional Version has ten auction-venue categories listed below its X-axis (with the 10th one being the catch-all "Others").  Each auction venue has its own graph line plotted for a given BG variety. You can click on any auction-venue's check box to toggle off and on its associated graph line for a better view of data.

As is the case with the standard version, you can view the graph lines in one of the two modes: Accumulative or Time-sensitive.  With the Accumulative mode, the number of auction sales is marked along its X-axis. With the Time-sensitive mode, auction sales are plotted along the X-axis based on their sale dates as a percentage of time elapsed from the date of the 1st sale to the last known sale date of a given BG variety.

The Professional Version is accessible only from the standard version of Visual Guide to Auction Prices for "Gold Pro" subscribers..  In the standard version, you will find, underneath the BG Number Submit field on the upper-left corner of the display, a "golden" button that says: "Go to Professional Version."

About CGO's Graph Creator

On the Professional Version, you will also find another button link.  Titled "Graph Creator," this link will take you to another web page where you can make your own selections and literally create over 342,000 different graphs!  Parameters for your selections are, as follows:

  • Graph Report Type
  • Time Length
  • Slab
  • Grade
  • Rarity Value
  • Price Range

Graph Report Type

There are five types of graphs you can make with CGO's Graph Creator:

  • "New Highs"
  • "All-Time Highs"
  • "Sale Volumes"
  • "Price Averages"
  • "Price Trends"

Time Length

For this parameter, you can select one of the eight settings, as follows:

  • "All" (all sales)
  • "Last 30 days"
  • "Last 90 days"
  • "Last 6 months"
  • "Last 1 year"
  • "Last 2 years"
  • "Last 3 years"
  • "Last 5 years"

Slab

At the time of this writing, there are three grading companies that offer certification and slabbing services for California Gold Fractionals (Cals).  They are:

  • PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service)
  • NGC   (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation
  • ICG    (Independent Coin Grading Company)

Of course, you can always choose "All" to view data for all grading companies.

Grade

For this parameter field, you can select one of the grades from "MS-67" to "Below VF-35" or the catch-all "All."

Rarity Value

Values for this parameter field goes from R-9 (unique) to R-1 (over 1,250 known).  There are 18 different parameter values, including "All."

Price Range

For this field, its parameter values sometimes change - depending on the type of graph report selected.  After you make the selection for the Price Range, check the current setting on the left side for a short description of your choice.

After making your selections (one at a time), you will be given a graphical display, showing data points - for each of the thirteen groupings of Cals, from 1xx to 13xx, covering all the three Periods.  Imagine being able to see, inside of one screen display, the "whole picture" of Cals in an instant!

Happy diggin'!
