About Visual
Guide to Auction Prices
for Certified Cals of Periods 1, 2 & 3
Here at CGO,
you can
now look
up
realized
auction
prices
for
certified
Cals of
all the
three periods, namely, 1, 2 and 3.
Not only
can you
view
prices
along
with
their
associated
grade,
date,
auction
house,
name of
the
collection,
lot
number,
and
certification
(such as PCGS and
NGC),
you will
also see
data
plotted
in line
graphs!
And,
what's
more
is this
feature
where a
line is
plotted
for each
grade
from
MS-67
and all
the way
down to
below
AU-53 -
all in
one
graph
grid
for each
given BG
variety
number! Each
line is
color-coordinated
with its
associated
grade
listed
in the
legend below the graph. You can even look up the exact
price and all its associated data by holding your mouse's
cursor over a data point on any of these colorful
lines.
Want
a better view of data?
No problem! With your
mouse,
just right-click on the graph grid to zoom in!
Right-click again to zoom out (back to the original view).
You can also even click and drag a portion of the graph grid
to zoom in!
Want to spread data out a little?
Sure, you
can! Simply click
on one of the following interactive buttons to stretch out the graph
grid vertically. In this way, data
will spread out - thus,
making it easier for you to view them. As easy as ABC!

Analyze data by grading
company?
Again, no problem! Make your selection by clicking on
one of the three major grading companies, such as
PCGS, NGC, ICG or NCS (above the
graph grid), and all sales certified by the selected
company will then be displayed. Of course, you can
always have all of them combined and plotted together for
any given BG number.

Analyze data by auction venue?
Once again, no problem! Make your selection by clicking on
one of the three major auction venues, such as eBay, Heritage and Teletrade.
All sales auctioned off by the selected
venue will then be displayed. What's more, you can, for example, elect to
view all sales for a selected grading company and venue at the same time.

Analyze sales by their totals or based on time?
Yes,
you can do that also! By selecting either "Accumulative" or
"Time-sensitive," you can view data in two different ways along the x-axis.
With the "Accumulative" option selected, the x-axis will display the total
number of sales found for each grade starting from the left side. With the
"Time-sensitive" option, the x-axis will show percentages from zero (earliest
sale found for a given BG variety) to 100% (the most recent sale date). In
this way, you can, at a quick glance, see which grades are most active over the
past few years and which grades are not.
Auction prices for certified Cals of Periods 1, 2 & 3
are compiled from several sources and plotted in a
"cumulative" manner with the number of sales in a
chronological order (from 1993 to present) on the x-axis and
with prices along the y-axis. New data wherever available
will be incorporated here with graphs updated accordingly
from time to time.
At this time of writing, there are over
10,075 records of certified-Cal auction sales in its database - all
available for display at your beck and call!
Informative data
are prominently displayed above the graph.

That's where you
will find all the following bits of
information:
-
Total number of auction sales found for a given BG number
-
Date of this BG variety's most-recent sale
- Total number of records in database
(over 10,075 records!)
- Total number of
PCGS-slabbed Cals found for the BG variety
- Total number of
NGC-slabbed Cals found

- Total number of
ICG-slabbed Cals found
- Total number of
NCS-slabbed Cals found
- Total number of Cals sold by all
auction venues
- Total number of Cals sold by eBay venue
- Total number of Cals sold by Heritage
venue
- Total number of Cals sold by Teletrade
venue
- Total number of Cals sold by all other
venues
- Date of the latest addition to the database.
Note: You can even click on this field to view its associated
BG variety's graph!
Want to narrow or widen your searches?
Yes,
you can! Click on "All" both for slabbing companies and for auction venues
to view all auction price records for a given BG number. For example, if you
want to focus only on PCGS-slabbed Cals auctioned off by eBay,
simply click on "PCGS" and then on "eBay."

Want to see its picture and rarity values?
Fret
not! Just click on the Quick Jump button next to the BG variety
number, and you will then be taken directly to its associated picture and
rarity values in CGO's other Visual Guide. No more typing in the BG number
twice - just enter it only once in either Visual Guide to Auction Prices
or Visual Guide to Cals and you can go back and forth between these two
guides with ease. [Note: This
feature is available for "Gold Miner" and "Gold Pro" subscribers only.]

Need
some help?
Just place your mouse's cursor over the
black box at the upper right corner of the graph grid. There, you will find some
helpful tips for using the graph.
Each line graph is dynamically created
"on the fly"
in response to your submission of a BG number. Both
X-axis and
Y-axis
are automatically adjusted to cover the ranges of values
found in data for each submitted BG number. In this way, the
dimensions of each graph remains the same, thereby ensuring
that the entire graph grid will fit on one screen display
(1024 pixels by 768 pixels on a 19" monitor).
Imagine
now, with
one
quick glance
at the graph,
you can tell
the direction of price trend
for each
grade
for a given BG variety number, whether it is
flat,
downward,
upward
or even zig-zag!

A convenient link to CGO's
other Visual Guide
On the top right corner of the page, you will find a link for
www.calgoldonline.com's
Visual Guide to Cals of Periods 1, 2 & 3. This other guide comes as a real handy and huge time saver for identifying over 600 varieties of Cals. It even includes "Quick Guide" that will certainly help you determine whether any coin you see on eBay is a token or a genuine Cal.
Two Versions: Standard & Professional Versions
You
now have a choice of subscribing to Standard Version only or to both Standard &
Professional Versions of Visual Guide to Auction Prices. The main
difference between these two versions is this: For the Standard Version,
the data below the X-axis are grades, where you can deselect or select to be
displayed in the graph. For the Professional Version, the data below the
X-axis are auction venues (houses), where you can make choices to display some
of them or all of them in the graph. Note:
With a "Gold Miner" subscription, you get both Visual Guide to Cals
and Visual Guide to Auction Prices (Standard Version). With a
"Gold Pro" subscription, you get the same package
plus the Professional Version, which also includes Graph
Creator.
Graph Creator
And,
what's more, the Professional Version comes with a powerful tool called Graph
Creator. That's where you can make your own selections and literally
create over 342,000 different
graphs! Parameters for your selections are, as follows:
- Graph Report Type
- Time Length
- Slab
- Grade
- Rarity Value
- Price Range

A Note about the Professional Version
The Professional Version of Visual Guide to Auction
Prices offers you an unique and valuable tool where you can
view and compare realized auction prices from over 10 different auction venues.
Whether you are a collector or a dealer, this powerful
investment tool alone can potentially save you hundreds of dollars.
With the Professional Version, you can readily see,
for a given grade, which auction venues would fetch you
higher prices for your lots and which venues would net you
lower prices for your purchases.
To view various screen snapshots from the
Professional Version and its Graph Creator, see
this link.
Want to try out a test drive?
OK, just saddle
up! The trial you're about to embark on will
lead you to a popular mine that goes by the name of
"BG-104." Once you get there, you can start
"digging" right away. For some helpful tips for displaying
